Our project, Justice for Our Future, Último Recurso is currently preparing a precedent-setting climate litigation case against the Portuguese State. The initiative challenges the compatibility of national 2030 emission targets with a 1.5°C aligned pathway, grounded in constitutional obligations, intergenerational equity, and the protection of fundamental rights.
Position Descriptions
- Chief Legal Officer (CLO) [€17 - €18/hour]
Focus: Strategic legal leadership and governance.
Responsibilities: Overseeing legal risk management, strategic litigation alignment, and ensuring compliance with international laws and donor requirements. The CLO supervises the General Counsel and the VP of Strategic Litigation.
- Chief Marketing + Growth Officer (CMGO) [€16 - €17/hour]
Focus: Strategic executive leadership in branding and audience expansion.
Responsibilities: Leading growth strategies to amplify the mission, institutional positioning, and integrating marketing efforts with fundraising and global partnerships.
- Strategic Litigation Project Manager [€17 - €18/hour]
Focus: Operational discipline and workflow coordination.
Responsibilities: Managing the pre-filing phase, ensuring the sequencing of legal drafting, scientific input, and policy analysis within clear timelines and confidentiality standards.
- Climate Policy Researcher [€15-€16/hour]
Focus: Technical and scientific litigation support.
Responsibilities: Analyzing Portugal’s carbon budget and "fair share" obligations. Producing technical briefs on emissions pathways and Short-Lived Climate Pollutants (SLCP) to support the legal team.
- Communications Officer [€14-€15/hour]
Focus: Execution of digital and media operations.
Responsibilities: Translating complex legal and scientific content into persuasive digital outputs, managing press engagement, and producing litigation-sensitive content.
Contractual Framework
Type: Independent Service Provision Agreement (Remote).
Duration: 2 months (initial phase).
